Does Eikeberget Housing Association have monitoring?
Yes, we have chosen surveillance outside the activity building and garage.
The housing association has stated that there is camera surveillance and that the applicable areas are signposted as required by Personopplysningsloven.
This measure was implemented as an emergency measure in the fall of 2025 when the board saw it as a necessary measure to increase security and be preventive after burglaries and repeated vandalism over time. This is something that must be decided at the general meeting with a 2/3 majority and the matter has been reported as an item for the annual meeting in March 2026.
As a resident, am I allowed to have a camera: Inside?
Yes, you are, however, obliged to follow the rules that follow camera surveillance in private areas.
You cannot film towards a neighbor or common area!
You must comply with the Personal Data Act.
As a resident, am I allowed to have a camera: Outside?
The main rule is
No. However, you can contact the board to describe any needs.
It is strictly forbidden to film other people's property, the housing association's common areas or public places. But it is legal to monitor your own property as a private person, such as your own terrace, garden and what is defined as your property. But one must be careful not to catch unaware private individuals, the neighbour's property or the common areas of the housing association. Such monitoring may be illegal and punishable.
It is you as a private person who is responsible for complying with the rules in the law for surveillance with a camera.

Can I have a camera as a doorbell, e.g. RING, Arlo, SiGN or alike?
You can do whatever you want". But you still have to follow rules and laws. Common corridors probably do not need to change the lock cylinder, because the main door will (for a long time) have a lock. (And a camera inside the hallway makes little sense and you have a high chance of preventing free movement).
This (Lock the communal door) may change in the future. The housing association is responsible for the key and lock if something goes wrong, but not if it has been changed, or tampered with, outside of the standard.
Having said that, if your door or you can angle the camera so that it does not capture and prevent the people's right to free movement, as well as comply with the general rules regarding camera surveillance, data storage, etc., will still encourage you to contact the board by e-mail: eikeberget@styretmitt.no
